The Hoxie Community Center (Service Center) is truly available only through a community wide effort. Through the labor efforts, material and monetary contributions of many Hoxie citizens the Service Center was made available. A voluntary monthly contribution of $0.50 on each water bill continues to support the maintenance, up-keep and supervision of the Service Center. The use of the 250 seating building is made available to Hoxie citizens (those making the monthly contribution) weekdays / nights for $15.00 - $30.00 for none residents / contributors and weekends for $30.00 - $60.00 for none residents / contributors. All moneymaking events require $100.00 charge. Abundant asphalt parking is provided and full climate controlled conditions provide a pleasant experience. Reservations can be obtained at the Hoxie City Hall.
The Hoxie City Park provides a safe, well maintained location for picnics (a covered pavilion is available), playground equipment for children of all ages and meandering sidewalks for pleasant strolls. A stage is in place for local performances of bands, dance groups or outdoor theatre groups. The park is fully lighted but is closed from 9:00PM until 7:00AM throughout the year. The Christmas Season is brightened by enhancing all of the playground equipment, the pavilion and several strategically placed exhibits with miniature lights.
A recent addition to Hoxies outdoor health complement is a 4.5 mile walking trail that is part of a Rails-to-Trails project. No motorized vehicles are allowed other than motorized wheel chairs.
